Major General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Kabir Talukder, PhD, is a distinguished retired officer of the Bangladesh Army and a seasoned diplomat whose career spans frontline command, strategic planning, and international representation.
Talukder was commissioned into the Corps of Infantry on 21 December 1984 after completing his training at the Bangladesh Military Academy. Talukder holds a PhD, an MSc in Strategic Studies, an MDS from National University, and a BSc from the University of Chittagong. His military education includes graduating from prestigious institutions with designations such as AWC and PSC.
Over his career, he held pivotal staff, instructional, and command positions. He served as Director (Operations & Plan) at the Armed Forces Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Commandant, Bangladesh Military Academy, GOC, 24th Infantry Division at Chittagong Cantonment.
In July 2019, Talukder was appointed as High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Republic of Kenya.
Mr. Talukder is currently a full-time academic, teaching at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), where he contributes to the intellectual and leadership development of future national and military leaders.
