Professor Shahab Enam Khan is an academic and policy expert specialising in Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Security—particularly terrorism, extremism, migration, and energy. His regional focus includes South and Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific. He currently supervises doctoral research on Myanmar, countering violent extremism, and maritime security.
Professor Khan has served as an international consultant for UNDP, UN Women, UNODC, and USAID, contributing to groundbreaking work on migration, radicalisation, trafficking, and governance. His work has supported institutions like BIMSTEC, IUCN, and the International Republican Institute, where he designed political dialogue frameworks in Bangladesh.
Professor Khan has drafted national policies, including the Broadcasting Policy 2014 and Bangladesh’s Counter-Terrorism Strategy. He has also contributed to Bangladesh-Myanmar dialogues and the Rohingya response.
He frequently speaks at national defence institutions, serves as Academic Advisor to the National Defence College, and is the first civilian Editor-in-Chief of its journal. His views are regularly featured in international media, and he actively writes and lectures on security and policy issues.
